1 Peter 1:13 "Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." - This is why I was able to wake up this morning & "prepare for action". #RealigningHope
This is a recent Facebook post of mine. Late last night, I got news that my 75 year old aunt, eldest of 8 children on my mom's side died. Over the last month or so, she's have 5 strokes and one heart attack. The doctors were never sure where the blood clots developed or why and so all they could do was keep a close eye on her and use every preventative precaution possible.
Interesting that in hearing the news, I at first didn't want to take any preventative precaution to my emotional and spiritual well being. I just wanted to mope and live in despair. But as I read this scripture this morning, I was reminded that tomorrow is not promised to anyone and at any moment, our King will return. It wouldn't matter to Him what I did before the cross because His blood paid the penalty (that's grace - something I didn't deserve). But it does however matter in who/what I trust and where my hope is set.
If my hope is set on the coming King and His grace towards me, I will experience a joy like none other and I can gear-up for action because my mind will be clear. If however, I hope in having pleasure, comfort, or joy, then I allow my mind to be clouded by false beliefs and I live in despair.
So today, I encourage you to choose to live a life with your hope set on what NEVER changes. Choose to stand up and make a change in your life of where your focus lays. Choose to set your hope on the One who will move you to action, because hope in Him does not fall short like hope in something you want to be happy. We can be confident that HE IS FAITHFUL he is working for our good...even when we are unfaithful in our pursuit of joy, setting our hope on the wrong things.
