Did you know?

Did you know this about Cru & my ministry scope?

I figure since I will be getting training for the next few weeks to be the Missional Team Leader of all the Urban schools in New Jersey, I should share a few fun facts I learn. There are many reasons why I chose to work with college students, here are a few:

Did you know?

  • Professors influence every student with whom we work. Over the course of four years, every single student spends around 2,000 hours in a classroom, being taught and shaped by 25-30 professors. And the influence doesn’t stop there—add textbooks, homework assignments, papers to be written, and so on and we begin to see the incredible reach of university professors.
Help me reach students who can reach the professors who shape and mold the next generation of  leaders. Visit give.ccci.org/0597677

Caring Community

Jersey Metro Cru: A caring community passionate about connecting people to Jesus Christ.

Last month, I told you about a conversation Maria Yousef & I had using the “perspective cards” with two Muslim women, Oraib and Saeeda, the president of the Kean Muslim Student Association. Since I met these women, we’ve had multiple conversations on campus practically every week and they’ve met nearly every female student leader in Cru! Visit my blog: tabbystab@blogspot.com to read more about our encounters. Another fun adventure with Maria (pictured left, next to me) was our trip to Mt. Vernon Alliance Church in Mt. Vernon, NY. Using the materials I mentioned in my last letter and a “prezi” I created, I trained six young seminary students from Nyack College in evangelism and then went out sharing our faith with High School students at the local park. We prayed with 3 young girls who weren’t sure of their salvation to be sure and encouraged them to talk to their youth pastors or visit the local church!

Up & Coming SOON!....

RADIATE2010 - Dispel the Darkness

Baltimore Inner Harbor
December 28-January 1st
$229 (after December 6, $255)
RADIATE2010 is a four day gathering of college students from across the Mid-Atlantic Region in Baltimore’s beautiful Inner Harbor at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel. The conference will consist of passionate worship, biblical teaching, vibrant community, and spiritual equipping. RADIATE2010 costs only $229 (NOT PER NIGHT!)

Joseph Sforza
(currently raising support with wife, Jenn,
to join the Jersey Metro staff)

Don't just take my word on it....
“The messages were rich and insightful, often surprising me with how little I knew; many challenged me inwardly. Understanding that God unconditionally loves me despite me penetrated a hard place in myheart, and all the guck and condemnation flowed freely from it. For the first time in a long time, I was able to let go of lingering guilt while weeping joyfully and even call the Lord my own.” – J. Sforza (NJCU alumni)

Our NJ student Emcees meet the RADIATE2010 Emcees!
Issue:Sometimes the price of this conference can be an issue for students. However......The room cost per night at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott is typically $376! Yet we offer the entire conference: 4 Nights, 7 Main Sessions, Seminars, Day of Faith, 2 Concerts (Reilly & Trip Lee), The Bridge Band leading Worship, and a New Year's Eve Party with Trip Lee ALL for less than that! Try getting all that anywhere else (let alone at a 4 star hotel in Inner Harbor Baltimore) for just $229 - definitely not too expensive! RADIATE2010 is a Deal!

GIVE:

We pay quite a bit to get a secular education that will help us make a living. Please consider a much smaller investment to get a spiritual education at RADIATE2010 that will equip a student to make a life! If you would like to gift a tax-deductible gift for one of our students to attend RADIATE2010, please write your check payable to Campus Crusade for Christ & send it to 36 Bartlett St. New Brunswick, NJ 08901. You can include a note saying "This is scholarship money for a student to attend RADIATE2010" and we will make sure it gets to the right place. Please don't write in the memo note on the check but rather use a separate note. You will get a tax-deductible receipt when your check is processed and an update after January 1st on how well the students enjoyed the conference.

More BIG Break PRAISES!

Students came back with amazing stories! Since they all can't fit into a monthly newsletter, here's a quick insite to the many things that happen at BIG Break!

1. Eric and Andrew, students from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, went hitch-hiking one night at BIG Break! These student leaders hopped in the back of a truck and shared the Gospel with 4 people! All 4 of the people they shared with entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ!

2. Jen, a Monclair State University student I formerly discipled (pictured left with me at BIG Break in 2007), helped lead someone to Christ on the beach during this conference! That night he joined some of our New Jersey students sharing his new faith! She also has recently made a decision to go on a Summer Project to Botswana this year! If you would like to read more on Jennifer, click here. Jen Lee needs to raise support for this missions trip to be possible so if you would like to help support her trip to Botswana, click here.

Another Awesome Story:

After Big Break this momentum to share the gospel continued on campus! Two of the girls that Karen, my co-worker, works with (Michele and Lindsay from Monmouth University) made a pact after the conference to share their faith with their parents over Easter. Michele, who accepted Christ in December shared with me that she had a great conversation with her parents about how they could know God personally. Both of Michele’s parents came into a relationship with Jesus on Easter Sunday! Praise God!
