It is day. But it won't be forever...

Urgency—There might not be tomorrow

Campus Crusade’s role is to help build movements everywhere so that everybody knows somebody who truly follows Jesus Christ. Part of my role in that ministry is to be trained in how to win, build and send people by the power of the Holy Spirit and so, help the body of Christ to fulfill the great commission. In this training, post summer Bible classes, I read an article by our current president, Steve Douglass. “Future Direction” describes how and why Steve felt led to more clearly define our ministry’s role in the Church universal, and he does. At the end of this article, Steve emphasizes John 9:4 in  regards to the very ripe harvest all around the world in saying: “It is ‘day.’ But it won’t be forever. So let’s work… together!”
Dina and IWhen I met Dina, a new Latina staff joining Destino (Cru’s effort to reach Latin Americans & Hispanics), in Orlando this summer, I didn’t recognize the seed God was planting in our relationship to create a thicker unity within the body of Christ. In connecting us through my former discipler and good friend, Jen Hu, God began to align us to the same vision Steve Douglass mentions in this article, “movements everywhere...so everybody knows somebody who knows Jesus Christ.” Dina and I both recognize the quickly growing Latino community and plan to: help bridge their knowledge of Christ so that they may know Him, bridge to the majority staff (not Destino) with them on the mission field level, and bridge the generational gap within their culture and churches. With this community quickly growing, we recognize the urgency in our mission to see every Latino & even every minority have an opportunity to know somebody who truly follows Jesus Christ.

Discomfort vs Disunity

Minorities in ministry often feel uncomfortable as they are surrounded by people of a different class, culture, etc.
One of the things God taught me when I first became a part of Campus Crusade for Christ was that comfort is NOT something He has given us a right to. Christ’s divinity in flesh, Paul’s radical life change, the disciples living off of whatever they were given, Abraham leaving the only place familiar to himself, Moses speaking & leading a nation, Esther confronting a King on behalf of her people are just a few examples of people who were obediently uncomfortable for Christ. Even Peter, who didn’t want to take the Gospel to the Gentiles was challenged to do so in a vision from the Lord recorded in Acts 10. Like Peter, in Acts 11 was in an uncomfortable position to bridge the gap between the Jewish believers and the newly converted Gentiles, I think God has called me to be a bridge builder within Cru. Please pray for me and Dina as we seek the Lord to know how exactly He wants us to do this.
My Mission:
“Through the leading & power of the Holy Spirit, may Christ be fully known to all peoples, by our love for one another, as we raise the standard of this Christian nation and ultimately be a light of unity to the world.”
For more information on what I mean by this, feel free to email, call, or look to my Facebook or Blog. :)

Keep reading and praying! Thanks for helping me work full-time to be part of fulfilling the great commission.

In Christ,
E. Tabitha Morales

Thirsty Ladies

2012 Keeping Tabs with Campus Ministry

Kean Cru - Hungry Men and Thirsty Women
It all started with a hungry man. The men from Kean Cru began to eat together on various days simply because... Well in the words of our Kean Cru student prayer leader, Mario: "Yo. I'm hungry man, let's get some something to eat!" While they unintentionally bonded over their common physical hunger, these twenty-something year old men began to recognize a spiritual hunger within themselves to be encouraged by other godly men. So in response to the Holy Spirit's lead, they started to have a regular men's time Tuesday nights over dinner. Just recently, Jon Lopez (weekly meetings leader), announced that they would go through a Bible study series called "Courageous", based off of the hit Christian song and recent movie. Please pray that these men would not lose hope but continue to edify one another as they regularly meet.

Slowly, but surely the women started to catch on. Last semester, they made random efforts to eat together and form deep, meaningful relationships amongst those who attended Fall Retreat. This semester the women have just started to intentionally meet together on Monday nights at the Starbucks located in the annex of the library on campus. Our first time meeting together (pictured right) we talked about the constant temptation to quench our "thirst", like the Samaritan woman in John 4, through things that won't ultimately satisfy. We watched a spoken word interpretation of the passage and talked for two hours about how we each related to this woman! God's starting to move in new ways through these ladies lives. Please pray they continue to trust God and go to Him to be fulfilled in life as opposed to the temporary pleasures of this world that don't ultimately satisfy. (Tasha, bottom right, gave her testimony at our annual fellowship dinner.)

RADIATE2011 - Be Free

I just returned from Cru's 4-day winter conference, RADIATE. This year the theme was "Be Free" and 1000 students were able to hear from special guests like Pastor Jackson Crum, Claude Hickman, our own Roger Hershey, and "I Am Second" speakers: Chris & Adrienne Plekenpol. Students from all across the mid-atlantic region started off the conference worshiping with The Bridgeband....
There is a lot more to tell, but for now it's time to rest. If you're interested in more videos and pictures, check out my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/edithann.morales

Picture story! :)

I've not posted in a long time... But here's the short, picture version of why:

This Friday is our second Jersey Cru of the semester! Last month we had nearly 200 students!

Kean is really working on reaching out to their campus this week. (Quest week is a statewide student/staff effort to take the initiative to share the Gospel with students, faculty and staff on the 30/60 campuses we are on.)

Kean Cru doesn't just give out free pizza! We really want people to come talk about God. So we are providing home-made empanadas! :)
Fall Retreat was terrific! Students truly encountered Jesus Christ!

11 women represented KeanCru at this years Fall Retreat. Harvey (right) is joined by 2 NJCU men pictured above.

Discipleship was beautiful by the beach @ Harvey Cedars Bible Conference.

Although a D3 University, Kean Cru even represented at the tailgate festival this year and cheered on Liscet (2nd from right) as she represented Christ, running for home-coming queen!)

Just cuz we were at homecoming, doesn't mean we weren't going to make an effort to start spiritual conversations! Underneath the castle the students built, they laid sand with "Soularium" cards dug in them. :)

Last Thursday, in an effort to reach students who may not have attended the homecoming concert, Kean Cru played short films produced by the Global Shortfilm Network to promote spiritual conversation.

Before that, Kean Cru had a difficult time booking a room to have Bible Study in, so we did a few community building events like bowling! Here are some of our senior women involved in the ministry. (From left to right: Liscet, Sindy, Jahtasia, Sharon)

It was a fun time for everyone!

Even a silly time for newbies to get to know and love us! :)

Jersey Cru

J.Cru is a meeting that gathers the students involved in our ministry across the state to one central location to worship and fellowship with other believers. The students lead worship, share testimonies with one another, discuss strategies for campus ministry and enjoy good friends and fellowship.

This is a video a few of my students from New Jersey City University put together as a promo for our monthly student meeting called JCru. I love their creativity! If you have Facebook, check it out by clicking here.

FYI - In the video you might recognize Joey and Jenn (first two students seen), who will soon be getting married and joining staff with the Jersey Metro Team.
