Missional Team Leader (MTL)

This summer I’ll be getting trained for my new role as the female Missional Team Leader (MTL) of the North Urban area of NJ. J

I’m so excited to take on this role where I will coach and train staff to lead diverse movements on several campuses in the urban area of New Jersey!
There are 106,000 college students in the Hudson County and surrounding urban areas of New Jersey. I pray the Holy Spirit will work through me as I co-lead with Mark Scott (the Jersey Metro Cru director) to direct several new interns and staff whom God has called, to reach each of these campuses with the knowledge of Jesus Christ, for the glory of God! There is so much untapped potential in this community and I can’t wait to see what God does!
This summer is very important for me to spend time listening to God’s voice as He guides me to set goals and make plans to reach every future leader on the urban college campus.  I trust the Lord to teach me new strategies this summer through the Spirit-led training given by senior Cru staff in Colorado. I also trust He will raise the financial support that my team and I need to implement those plans this upcoming new school year.
Please pray for me as I hope to incorporate all three reasons God has called me to staff in these plans. Those are: to help Christian minority students make their faith personal; to build up young women in Christ so that their hearts would be set on Him; and to bridge the gap between the majority and minority cultures in the Christian world.

Please also pray that the Holy Spirit will lead His children to give to this purpose so that every college student will know somebody who truly follows Jesus Christ. I imagine a day where young minorities are working as missionaries alongside the majority culture to advance God’s kingdom everywhere. Will you help in making this possible this year? Will you consider giving a one-time $100 gift or making a monthly pledge?

In order to reach college students (like Sharon pictured left) with the life-transforming truth of the Gospel, I need be fully funded by supporters like you. My monthly support is currently 30% shy of where it should be to receive full paychecks and when retreats, conferences, or training occur, those funds are depleted even more for payment of these events.
Would you consider helping meet my one-time needs for this summer or beginning your monthly gift today?

Giving Time of the Year

Merry Christmas!  I pray you experience joy as we remember our Savior coming to dwell among us!
At this time of year we tend to look back and think of all the Lord has done in our lives throughout the year.  I pray that you are able to take the time to think of the ways the Lord has been working and what He’s been teaching you.  As I reflect back I realize that resting in God’s full control has been a major theme of my life this year.  For instance, Kean Cru doubled in size and is continuing to grow hungry for more of Jesus (all I did was pray & show up). Over Summer Project I was able to pour into women at random who dealt with similar issues as I have these last two years (only He could put us together). Then, even more beyond my control, several students gave their lives to Christ this past semester! Praise God!

Liscet Duran (Kean Cru leader I disciple pictured left) and I have been learning this lesson together: It’s not easy to surrender control in every area of my life, especially when I think I know what’s best. For example, there are times when I’m sharing the Gospel and will continue to emphasize God’s love, hoping for some reaction from the listener that will show I’m speaking clearly. There are other times I want the Kean Cru leadership team to do things a certain way so that meetings would run more smoothly (as though God can’t work through all things). Even recently I planned to meet with Anita, a student I disciple at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, and her roommate. Since NJIT does not allow students to do surveys on campus or share their faith openly, Anita and I planned to share with her roommate. The problem was we didn’t have time to discuss a game plan before entering the field. At the end, we had little spiritual conversation that didn’t lead to the Gospel. This is still a relationship we are pursuing for the sake of giving Jess (the roommate) an opportunity to know Christ. However in my own hands, I want to work at it without rest until we have a clear conversation.

One of the most difficult struggles I’ve been faced with is resting God’s full control of my finances. I raise support to cover my daily needs as well as ministry needs like conferences, materials and missions trips. Your partnership allows me to disciple and share the love of Jesus to college students from all across the Mid-Atlantic region. I’m so excited for what God is doing at Kean University with the leaders and members of Kean Cru as well as with Anita at NJIT. In order to be involved with discipleship & come alongside these future leaders in ministry, I want to remain undistracted and rest in His promise to provide my needs according to His will. Low support has a way of distracting me and I am currently about $1,300 short on monthly support.
Would you prayerfully consider a special gift or raising your monthly support at this year-end to help offset some of my needs?  Please make Checks out to Campus Crusade for Christ and enclose it in the envelope provided or you can give on-line at http://give.ccci.org/give/0597677

Thank you for any amount you give.  I would not be able to serve without your partnership through prayer and financial support.  Thank you for your faithful support, prayers, and encouragement!

In His Amazing Grace,
 E. Tabitha Morales

QT - Giving Economically?

Today during my Quiet Time with Jesus, I decided to study giving. In part because I want more people to give to me but for the most part, I need to give more. I give generally according to what I get paid or what I have. But as I studied today, I realize giving isn't about what one has, it's about how much one loves.

"WHAT?! Tab, you're crazy!" I KNOW! But it's not my idea, it's God's! Check this out: Everyone knows the scriptures on giving... 2Corinthians 9:6 "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully."

So I look up the word "sparing(ly)" and the first dictionary explanation is "economic(ally)"!!! WHAT?! Isn't that the number one excuse for American Christians today?! Including myself?! "God, I don't have enough so I can't give any." But God flips it! He says we don't have because we don't give! Don't believe me? Okay...the Word:
Prov. 11:24 and 25 "One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." Galatians 6:7 and Luke 6:38 both attribute almost a cause and effect tone to giving and reaping. This is something so basic and yet so often brushed over in our lives. If I have a beautiful purse, am I willing to give it up for someone who needs it?

Why are we so willing to take care of "self" first when God asks, nay, demands the opposite from us. We are to consider others ABOVE ourselves.

How am I doing that with my finances?
The definition of "generous" is to be magnanimous, high-minded, open-handed.
I think about being open-handed with something as juvenille as candy in my hands. So often I want to close my hand sooo tight before the other person can take more than I want him/her to take. Why don't I just hold my hands open to give what the person needs? Is it a matter of trust in the person to properly use my generosity or is it a matter of trusting God to provide what is needed and to replace what I already gave? I'm so pitiful. The God of all creation asks me to give all of me, including my finances, and I'm fearful! Fear is so powerful. But I refuse to let it hold me back. God's love is more powerful to the point that it casts out all fear. So through His love, I will give generously without holding back.
